FAQ

• Do I need the Foundation Diploma in order to study something related in Art & Design?



Most Universities state in their Entry Requirements that they do not accept any student without a Foundation Diploma. Dependent on your chosen pathway and course but over 80% of the Universities offering Art & Design Courses in the UK request a Foundation Diploma.



• When do  classes take place?


All classes run in the afternoon starting from 3pm and ending at 8.30pm. This gives the Part time students the chance to join the course in parallel with their other school obligations and the full time students to take any internships for small period of times to add to their portfolios.



• Is attendance mandatory?


Yes and the overall grade is affected by the attendance percentage. Students are required to complete a certain number of Guided Learning Hours (GLH) during the duration of the course in order to receive the diploma and all lateness and absences are carefully calculated.



• Are all tutors technicians?


All tutors are professionals in their specialist fields who teach and supervise all techniques learned and practiced in class. 



• Are all classes in English?


Yes, students are expected to speak and write only in English at a fluent level.



• What are my options if I want to do it Part-time?


You can do it over two or three years and along with GCE, IB or Greek Lykeion Programs. For more information and details on all options you should contact us.



• Am I guaranteed a university entry if I do your course?


Up till now we have had 100% university placement, meaning that all of our students entered their chosen Universities. Though we only provide the basis, it is up to how hard each student works that guarantees him/her a place in a top University.


• Where is the campus and what are the facilities?


The BTEC Foundation in Art & Design is located at the Doukas School. Apart from the school indoor and outdoor facilities that are open to use by any BTEC FAD student there are two  art rooms fully equipped with specialist materials to cover all areas, a library stocked with monthly Art&Design magazines and books for all fields, one kiln room, a metal workshop and a classroom used for tutorials and projections.
